# EVO Overview

## EVO Overview

EVO is the native coin of the Evorium blockchain.

It is the main asset used to power transactions, smart contract execution, validator participation, and ecosystem activity across the Evorium Layer 1 network.

Unlike a token deployed on another blockchain, EVO exists directly at the protocol level of Evorium. It is part of the network itself and plays a core role in how the blockchain operates.

### The Role of EVO

EVO connects the main participants inside the Evorium ecosystem.

Users need EVO to send transactions and interact with applications.\
Developers use EVO when deploying and executing smart contracts.\
Validators participate in the network through Proof of Stake.\
Applications use EVO as part of on-chain activity and transaction settlement.

This makes EVO more than a digital asset for transfer. It is the economic layer that supports the Evorium blockchain.

### Native Utility

EVO is designed to support several key functions within the network:

* Paying gas fees
* Executing smart contracts
* Supporting validator participation
* Powering network incentives
* Enabling ecosystem activity
* Supporting future governance participation

Every transaction on Evorium requires EVO as gas. This creates a direct relationship between network usage and the native coin.

When the network is used, EVO becomes part of that activity.

### Total Supply

The total supply of EVO is fixed at:

**150,000,000 EVO**

This gives the Evorium economy a clear native asset structure from the beginning.

A defined supply helps users, developers, validators, and ecosystem participants understand the base economic model of the network.

### EVO in the Evorium Economy

EVO is designed to support the movement of value inside Evorium.

It can be used for simple wallet transfers, decentralized applications, payment systems, DeFi protocols, gaming economies, community platforms, and other Web3 utilities built on the network.

As the Evorium ecosystem grows, EVO becomes the asset that connects usage, security, and participation.

### Why EVO Matters

A Layer 1 blockchain needs a native coin that powers its core activity.

For Evorium, that coin is EVO.

It supports gas fees, connects validators to network security, enables smart contract execution, and gives the ecosystem a shared asset for on-chain participation.

EVO is not only the coin of Evorium.

It is the asset that helps the network function.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://evorium.gitbook.io/evorium-docs/evo-economy/evo-overview.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
